The representation
of scenes of sexual intercourse, such as this portrayal
of an act of copulation between a man and a woman, was perhaps
more common in pre-Hispanic art than what the few known
objects would have us believe. Spanish chroniclers left
testimonies of the wholesale destruction of such objects
because they were considered sinful.
